On-Site “Westerbork Transit Camp and the Holocaust in the Netherlands”
For Educatators in Grades 7-12
This spring marks the 85th anniversary of the German invasion of the Netherlands and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Westerbork transit camp. Learn about this unique camp within the broader history of the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands and through the stories and voices of those who passed through it. Participants will not only learn the history, but see it come to life through testimony and artifacts of Westerbork survivors, and through Illinois Holocaust Museum’s virtual reality film, “Walk to Westerbork.” The subject of the film, Survivor Rodi Glass, will be onsite to discuss her story with educators. This engaging full-day training will provide educators with primary source documents and access to cutting-edge immersive technology to allow for a meaningful integration of this history into their classrooms.
Workshop includes:
- Classroom Resources
- 4.5 Clock Hours
