Live Performance: Dr. Marvin Berman presents: A Musical Journey Through the World War II Years

September 8, 2022 | 6:30pm CDT

9603 Woods Drive, Skokie, IL 60077

The years encompassing World War II occupy one of the most tragic and meaningful periods in World History. The saga of the war that was supposed to end all wars also inspired numerous movies which were amplified by beautiful musical scores and also marked the creation of Broadway Musicals and songs which still enjoy popularity today as part of the American Songbook.

Dr. Marvin Berman will take you on a journey of significant movies like “Bridge On the River Kwai,” Love is a Many Splendored Thing” , “The Pianist”, The Great Escape” Saving Private Ryan”and improvise the musical scores live on the piano.

Come sing along as he plays such familiar songs as “White Cliffs of Dover” and  “I’ll Be Seeing You” “This is the Army Mr. Jones” “ Sentimental Journey” and “As Time Goes By”.

Appropriately, Marvin will also include Yiddish songs that emanated from the ghettos. In bad times and good times, music is often the ultimate form of emotional expression.
