Legacy of the Genocide Convention: Impact and response on International Human Rights & Criminal Law
Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking virtual presentation by renowned international lawyer and legal scholar Ambassador David Scheffer. The first U.S. Ambassador at-Large for War Crimes Issues from 1997 to 2001, Scheffer led the U.S. delegation establishing the International Criminal Court and negotiated the creation of five war crimes tribunals. Senior Fellow at Council on Foreign Relations & Director Emeritus for International Human Rights, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Scheffer will explore the evolution and relevance of the international genocide convention from its conception to prosecuting the crime of genocide and the legal challenges that it presents today.
